James Taylor, son of the late Colie B. Taylor and Hazel Hensley Taylor was born on July 14, 1949 in Pyletown, Missouri and departed his life on Friday, October 14, 2022 at his residence in Morley, Missouri at the age of 73. He was a Veteran of the United States Army serving fourteen years in active duty serving in the Vietnam War. Former service manager for Bud Shell Ford in Dexter, Sikeston Motors in Sikeston, and Auffenberg John Deere. James was of the Baptist faith and a resident of Morley. Mr. Taylor was an avid musician, song writer, and entertainer. James was an inspiration to several family members and friends to become a musician. On September 27, 2009, he was united in marriage to Marvalene Whorton. Mrs. Taylor survives of the home in Morley. Besides his wife, survivors include one son, Chris (Amy) Taylor of Scurry, Texas and by one daughter; Dawn Haley of Wylie, Texas; two grandchildren, Astin (Tyler) Hancock and Taylor Chrissie Haley; one great-granddaughter, Mia Hancock; two brothers, Colie (Donna) Taylor Jr. and Kenneth (Peggy) Taylor both of Morley; one sister, Teresa (Randy) Conn of Delta; also survived by many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Richard, Clinton, and Keith Taylor; and by two sisters, Roxanna Boley and Lesa Reeves. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 20, 2022 from 10:00 until 11:00 at the Morley Baptist Church. Memorial service will then take place at 11:00 in the Morley Baptist Church.
