Wilma Gosche Metz

Wilma Gosche Metz, 101, of Oran, Mo, went to be with her Lord October 16, 2020.  She passed away at her home surrounded by family and friends.

She was born November 27, 1918, in Bleda (Caney), Mo, daughter of Tony and Ida Dannenmueller Gosche. She and Jerome Metz were married May 27, 1941, at Guardian Angel Church in Oran, Mo. He passed away March 14, 1990.

She loved to play cards and taught each of her grandchildren and great grandchildren to play Rummy. Wilma also enjoyed following the St. Louis Cardinals and kept her own scorecard while watching them on TV. She will be remembered for her unconditional love for her family, extended family and her faith; her positive, fun nature; and, of course, her beautiful blue eyes and sweet smile.

Loving survivors include one son, Don (Sally) Metz of Poplar Bluff, Mo; a niece she raised, Marlene (Robert) Bell of New Hamburg, Mo; three grandchildren, Todd (Stacey) Metz of Hattiesburg, MS, Katherine (Aaron) Johnson of Fort Collins, CO and Kristen (Justin) Friedly of Fort Collins, CO; ten great grandchildren, Zachary and Mallory Metz of Hattiesburg, MS, Ian, Lucy, Nora and Stella Johnson of Fort Collins, CO and Brynnan, Kaelyn, Avery and McKinley Friedly of Fort Collins, Co.   Also surviving are many step-grandchildren, step-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Preceding her in death were her beloved husband, Jerome; brothers, John, Zeno and Harold Gosche; sisters, Nora Gosche Pobst, Irmina Gosche Pobst, Corona Gosche Feurhahn and an infant sister; and her parents.

The family extends a special thank you to all those who helped enable Wilma to remain in her home these last few years, especially the Carolyn Tenkhoff family, Donna Anderson, Elnora Porter, Carol Beussink, Janet Berendzen and Wilma’s hospice caregivers.
