William (Bill) August Schlegel

Bill Schlegel, son of the late Henry Schlegel and Mayhulda (Geiser) Schlegel was born on December 1, 1928 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri and departed his life on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at the Spring Creek Nursing Home in Murray, Kentucky at the age of 94 years.

He was a farmer for many years and a former forklift driver for Associated Building Centers.  Mr. Schlegel enjoyed working in lawn care after his retirement.  Bill was associated with Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau, Missouri and Eisleben Lutheran Church in Scott City.

On July 28, 1962 he was united in marriage to Lavada Ann Heuring in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Mrs. Schlegel survives of the home.

Besides his wife, survivors include one daughter, Janice Winder of Murray, Kentucky; by three grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son Kenneth Schlegel; five brothers, Richard Schlegel, Albert Schlegel, Melvin Schlegel, Alvin Schlegel and Clarence Schlegel; by five sisters, Marie Nagel, Erna Duckworth,  Mildred Brugger, Frieda Wendel and Vanita Randol.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2023 from 10:00 until 12:00 noon at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City.  Funeral services will then be conducted at 12:00 noon with Rev. Barry Pfanstiel officiating. Entombment will follow in the Memorial Park Mausoleum in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
