William “DOUG” Hamm, son of the late William Avery Hamm and Dorothy Elizabeth Walter Hamm was born on May 11, 1942 in Little Blue, Missouri and departed his life on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at his residence in Chaffee, Missouri at the age of 79 years.
William was a retired operator with Southeast Missouri Stone in Cape Girardeau, Missouri and was of the Baptist Faith.
On July 5, 1961 he was united in marriage to Shelby Jean McVay in Oak Ridge, Missouri. Mrs. Hamm preceded him in death on May 4, 2013.
Survivors include three brothers, Jack Hamm, Sr., Glen (Nancy) Hamm, and Mark (Brenda) Hamm all of Scott City, Missouri; three sisters-in-law, Martha Hamm of Chaffee, Maryanna Schweer of Benton, and Marlyn Jansen of Leopold, Missouri; by one brother-in-law, Billy McVay; also, by nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and many cousins.
Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Roger Hamm and Bruce Hamm.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 17, 2021 from 9:00 until 11:00 A.M. at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Home in Scott City. Funeral services will then be conducted on Friday, September 17 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Randy Morse officiating. Interment will follow in the Oakdale Cemetery near Commerce, Missouri.
