Vernon Schaefer

Vernon Lawrence Schaefer, 72 of Scott City died Thursday, April 18, 2019 at his home. He was born November 14, 1946 in Kelso, Missouri to Theon Frank “Mousie” and Marie Bertha Schoen Schaefer. He married Susan E. Lentz on April 17, 2019.

He was site leader for Proctor & Gamble for 31 years. He served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam. He was a member of Saveway Softball and P&G Basketball teams.

He is survived by his wife, Susan; two daughters, Rhonda (Teddy) Piatt of Hermann, Missouri and Robyn Schaefer of Scott City; four grandchildren, Amanda, Joshua, Erika and Allison; two great grandchildren, Raelyn and Jessie; two brothers, Gilbert (Bonnie) Schaefer of Holts Summit, Missouri and Mike (Lisa) Schaefer of Scott City; and three sisters, Doreen Hamm of Fruitland, Missouri, Mary Fowler of Scott City and Jenn (Dennis) Carpenter of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.

Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the time of service on Tuesday at the Amick-Burnett Chapel in Scott City.

Memorial service will be at 1:00 pm on Tuesday at the chapel with Rev. Randy Morse officiating.
