Tom "Harvey" Mcgowan

Thomas Edward “Harvey” McGowan, 75 of Benton died Friday, March 12, 2021 in Benton, MO.  He was born May 11, 1945 in Portage, Wisconsin to Robert and Reinetta Margaret Atcherberg McGowan.  He married Cheri Parsons on March 29, 2003 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Harvey retired form Oscar Mayer after 30 years and was owner/operator of T&C Motorcycles Parts in Benton.  He was retired from the U.S. Navy after serving for 21 ½ years.  Harvey served in the Vietnam War along with his brothers.  He was a member of Vietnam Vets/Legacy Vets Motorcycle Club, VFW and American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Cheri; a son, James Robert (Melinda) McGowan of Portage; a daughter, Angela (Stig) Rahm of WI; a step-son, David Forrest (Elizabeth) Parsons of Chaffee; three brothers, James (Sally) McGowan of Wisconsin Dells, WI, Jerry (Jackie) McGowan of Wisconsin Dells, WI and Dan (Susan) McGowan of Burke, VI; five grandchildren; one great grandson and fur babies, Panhead and Softail.

Harvey was not fond of boobs but liked tits.  If you did not know Harvey you didn’t know a true Democrat.

Visitation will be from 10:00 am – noon on Thursday at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Benton.

Funeral service will be at noon on Thursday at the chapel with John “Top” Chitwood.

Burial will be in at 2:00 pm at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri with full military honors.
