Shirley Hefner

Shirley Ann Hefner passed away peacefully on March 21, 2025 at Mercy Hospital Southeast, while holding the hands of her granddaughters, a wonderful way to enter Heaven.

She was born in rural Cape Girardeau County on the family farm, February 8th, 1943, to Tom and Altha (Withers) Fenimore. Shirley attended Oak Valley Elementary School and graduated from Delta High School. She was baptized at Delta First Baptist Church on April 25th, 1951. She was married to Paul Hefner. He preceded her in death on October 7, 1999.

Shirley had been employed at various factories in the area including Thorngate and Florsheim Shoe in Advance, Chaffee, and Cape Girardeau. She enjoyed line dancing, travel, gardening, and spending time with family, including her three granddaughters and great-grandchildren. Her sassy sense of humor was a joy to all.

Survivors include one daughter, Pam (Chris) Cannon of Cape Girardeau, one sister, Betty Ulrich of Chaffee; three granddaughters, Caitlin (Jake) Hayward of DeWitt, Iowa, Madison (Christian) Ritchie, of Dayton, Montana, and Mackenzie Cannon (fiancé, Matthew Salzani) of Cape Girardeau; by three great-grandchildren, Miles, Merrick, and Gemma Hayward; also, by sister-in-law, Emma Borneman, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 25, 2025 from 1:00 until 3:00 PM at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee. Funeral services will then be conducted at 3:00 PM in the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee. Interment will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
