Shirley Cook, daughter of the late Clarence Held and Betilla Rose Gosche was born on November 15, 1941 in New Hamburg, Missouri and departed her life on Friday, April 22, 2022 at her daughter’s residence in Centralia, Missouri at the age of 80.
Mrs. Cook was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Scott City, Missouri and a member of Knights of Columbus Auxiliary. Shirley was a former Dietary Aid for Chateau Girardeau and a former resident of Scott City.
On November 28, 1964 she was united in marriage to William “Bill” Cook in Scott City, Missouri. Mr. Cook preceded her in death on May 18, 1987.
Survivors include one daughter, Jamie (Dean) Egan Centralia, Missouri; two brothers, Ronnie Held of Chaffee and Gilbert Held of Norman, Oklahoma; two sisters, Mary Lee and Kay Stull both of Scott City, Missouri;
also, by six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Christopher Cook and by one brother, Norman Held.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 2, 2022 from 9:00 until 11:00 at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City. Funeral services will then be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Monday with Father Michael Casteel officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery.
