Shirl "Ken" Roling Lowery, son of the late Charlie Lowery, Eulah Patton Owens and step-father Willis Owens was born on September 18, 1941 in Leachville, Arkansas and departed this life surrounded by loved ones on Friday, August 23, 2019 at the Chaffee Nursing Center in Chaffee, Missouri at the age of 77 years.
Mr. Lowery was a Veteran of the United States Army serving with the 101st Airborne in the Vietnam War, of the Catholic Faith, a Boy Scout Leader for many years, and a former member of the Teamsters Union employed with Truck Transport in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. He loved to enjoy coffee with his wife on their deck, gardening, fishing, spending time with his family and grandchildren at gatherings, traveling with his sons with no destination planned, antiquing and frequented local auctions and estate sales. Those who knew Ken admired his charming personality, quick-wittedness and the stories he could tell. He was a friend to many, a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Ken was a true southern gentleman and will be sorely missed by his loved ones and friends.
On July 29, 1967 he was united in marriage to Linda Joyce Wooldridge in St. Louis, Missouri. Mrs. Lowery survives of the home in Chaffee. Ken loved his wife dearly and referred to her as his Bride.
Besides his wife, other survivors include three sons, Dwayne Lowery (Julie) of Chaffee, Shawn Lowery (Nancy) of Benton, and Kenith Lowery (Donna) of Chaffee; by one brother, Elbert Lowery of Southaven, Mississippi; three sisters, Irene Morgan, Willie Mae Ross, and Kathyrn Robinson; by twelve grandchildren, Sarah and (Chris) Danels, Trevor, Gabe, Christopher, Samantha, Tabitha, Bennett, Wesley, Makinsey, Josh, Amber, and Kelly; also by sixteen great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by his step-father, Willis Owens; twin boys, and a great-granddaughter.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 until 12:00 on Friday, August 30, 2019 at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee. Funeral services will then be conducted on Friday at Noon with Rev. Gene Hooker officiating. Interment will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield with full military honors.
