Rulen Spies, Son of the late, Rulen “Sam” Spies and Reva Pruitt Spies was born on June 11, 1939 in Zalma, Missouri and departed his life on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at his residence in Greenville, Missouri at the age of 82. Mr. Spies was an independent contractor of S & S Builders, affiliated with the Baptist faith, and a resident of Greenville. He was a United States Veteran of the Navy and an avid hunter. On May 20, 1967 he was united in marriage to Norma Darlene Lufcy in Benton, Missouri. Mrs. Spies survives of the home in Greenville. Besides his wife, survivors include one son, Norman (Becky) Spies of Scott City; one daughter Elizabeth Hanner of El Paso, Texas; five grandchildren, Layne (Alle) Spies, Hayley Spies (Stetson), Ryan Lyle, Colin Lyleand Cody Daub; by one very special great grandson, Tucker Spies; three sisters, Clara Westrich of Chaffee, Virginia Ledford, of Tennessee, and Fimble Kay Enderle of New Hamburg; also, by other relatives and many close friends. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Rulen Knox; two brothers, Paul and Ray Spies; and by one sister, Barbara Westrich. Visitation will be held from 3:30 until 5:00 P.M. on Tuesday, November 23, 2021at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City. Memorial service will then be conducted on Tuesday at 5:00 P.M. with Rev. Rennie Phillips officiating.
