Roy "Muleskinner" Moore, Sr.

Roy William “Muleskinner” Moore, Sr., 86 of Benton, Missouri died Monday, July 24, 2023 at his home.  He was born December 12, 1936 in Charleston, Missouri to Connie Lawrence and Ethel T. Burkett Moore.  He married Frances “Becky” Hensley on May 20, 1956 in Benton, Missouri.  She preceded him in death on June 6, 2022 after 66 years of marriage.

Roy was a truck driver for Malone & Hyde and Agri-Tran.  He was a member of Unity Baptish Church in Benton, Missouri.

He is survived by two sons; Roy (Shirley) Moore, Jr. of Benton and Richard (Jill) Moore of San Antonio, Texas; two daughters, Becky Jane (Floyd) Burton, Jr. of Tamms, Illinois and Darlene (Danny) Ray of Benton; a grandson they raised, Patrick (Marisa) Moore of Omaha, Nebraska; a brother, Jewell (Pat) Moore of New Hamburg, Missouri; a sister, Shirley Hensley of Benton and 46 grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, infant brother, Bobby Gene Moore and sister and brother-in-law, Glenda (Alfred) Haney.

Visitation will be from 5:00 – 8:00 pm on Thursday at Unity Baptist Church in Benton.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Friday at the church with Rev. Dennis Lowe officiating.

Burial will be in Unity Baptist Cemetery in Benton.
