Rosetta Kinder, daughter of the late Reverend Watis Harrell and Pauline (Harris) Chance, was born on August 10, 1943, in Scott County, Missouri. She passed away on February 22, 2025, on what would have been her 63rd wedding anniversary, at Mercy Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, at the age of 81.
She was married to Dennis Kinder on February 22, 1962, in Rockview, Missouri. They briefly attended Southeast Missouri University before moving to California. In California, Rosetta began a long and varied career, working as a secretary at a newspaper office and later as a bank teller. Eventually, she and her husband opened a small chain of variety stores, where she served as a bookkeeper and buyer. Later, they started Sun-E Sales and Rose Sales, where Rosetta worked as a bookkeeper and salesperson.
She is survived by her sister, Velma Wachter, of St. Clair, Missouri; her brother, Fred Harrell, of Jackson, Missouri; and her sons, Dennis Kinder (Pamela) of Billings, Montana, Terry Kinder (Silvia) of Jackson, Missouri, and Devin Kinder (Elizabeth) of Chaffee, Missouri, who is currently stationed in Germany with the United States Air Force. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jacquelyn Waller of Billings, Montana, Buddy Kinder, who is currently stationed in Japan with the USAF, Emma Kinder, and Nathan Kinder; as well as three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis, on September 12, 2000; her sister, Mary June Simmons; and her parents, Reverend Watis Harrell and Pauline (Harris) Chance.
Family and friends are invited to honor Rosetta’s life at a visitation on Monday, February 24, 2025, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the same location, with burial to follow at Union Park Cemetery.
Rosetta will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family and her kindness and compassion for others. She will be deeply missed.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Aging Matters (agingmatters2u.com), an organization dedicated to enhancing the health, safety, and well-being of individuals aged 60 and older, enabling them to live independently in their homes for as long as possible.
