Roberta Childers

Roberta Childers, daughter of the late Loren Thomas Mitchell and Audrey (Talbert) Mitchell was born on August 31, 1945 in St. Louis, Missouri and departed her life on Sunday, January 5, 2025 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff at the age of 79 years.

She was a former Baker at Wonder Bread and a member of the Confectioners Union in St. Louis.  Mrs. Childers was affiliated with the Little Brushy General Baptist Church and a resident of Wappapello, Missouri.

On April 25, 1964 she was united in marriage to John W. Childers, Sr. in St. Louis, Missouri.  Mr. Childers preceded her in death on March 25, 2014.

Survivors include one son, John (Rita) Childers, Jr. of Festus; one daughter, Cathy (Allen) Mowery of Imperial, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Mandy (Jessie Hewitt) Mowery, David (Taylor) Mowery, John Mowery, Nichole (Brandon) Huffman, Drake Childers and Miranda (Austin Meyer) Childers, and Ryan (Jenna)Hansen; ten great-grandchildren, Jack, Evan, Ellie, Nolan, Jace, Daxton, Emmy, Amaris, Brooklyn, and Colton; one brother, Charles Mitchell; two sisters, Estelle Barks and Marilyn Nolen; also, by other relatives and friends.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Eugene, Donald, Carl, Gary, and Clifford; by five sisters, Barbara Webber, Wilda Crawford, Violet Wade, Debbie Conrad, and Rita Linn.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 12, 2025 from 1:30 until 3:00 PM at the Little Brushy Baptist Church.  Funeral services will then be at 3:00 PM with Rev. Tim Schultz officiating.  Interment will follow in the Little Brushy Cemetery.
