Robert Lee Payne

Robert Lee Payne, son of the late Raymond and Linda (O’Steen) Payne, was born September 12, 1933 in Palmersville, Tennessee and departed his life on July 7, 2022 at the Missouri Veterans Homes in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at the age of 88 years. Mr. Payne served as a Corporal in the Army. He retired as Postmaster at the Post Office in Chaffee, Missouri. On May 4, 1956 he married Julia “Louise” Speck at the Fairview Baptist Church in Detroit, Michigan. She preceded him in death on February 23, 2012. He is survived by four children: Julia (John) Kirk of Benton, Missouri, Kimberly Bothel of Chaffee, Missouri, Steven (Jo) Payne of Jackson, Missouri, Kevin (Gayla) Payne of Chaffee, Missouri; one sister -in-law: Karen (Al) Cuzzort of Fraser, Michigan; nine grandchildren, and sixteen great-grandchildren. There will be a private family graveside service with Rev. Gerald Collier as officiant at a later date with full military honors.
