Richard Lowes, son of Helen J. (Alexander) Lowes and the late Leonard W. Lowes was born on May 19, 1950 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri and departed his life on Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at a family’s residence in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at the age of 73 years. He was the owner and operator of Richard Lowes Construction for several years before working for other independent construction Contractors in the Cape and St. Louis area. Richard was a Veteran of the United States Army serving with the 75th Ranger Regiment in Vietnam. He was a member of the Cape VFW post 3838. On June 1, 1974 he was united in marriage to Earleen Nothdurft in Chaffee, Missouri. Mrs. Lowes preceded him in death. Besides his mother, survivors include two sons, James W. Lowes of Cape Girardeau and Curtis M. Lowes of Scopus, Missouri; four brothers, Jim (Pam) Lowes of Edmund, Oklahoma, Steve (Jane) Lowes of Elwood, Indiana, Kenny (Linda) Lowes of Sikeston, Missouri, and Greg (Cindy) Lowes of West Plains, Missouri; one sister, Mary Ann (Andy) Halter of Sikeston, Missouri; one sister-in-law, Edith Lowes of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; also, by several nieces and nephews. Besides his wife and father, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Donna Sue Lowes Hosack; two brothers, David Lowes and Tim Lowes; and by two sisters, Sara Gramm and Betty Jane Lowes. Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at the committal shelter, with full military honors. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Richard Lowes trust for a scholarship fund to be established in Richard and Earleen’s names. Family and friends are invited to join in a memorial dinner at the Chaffee VFW post after the ceremony in Bloomfield.
