Richard Lynn Duncan, son of the late Roscoe M. and Georgia Marie (Dirnberger) Duncan was born on May 15, 1953 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri and departed his life on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at the Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at the age of 71 years. Unfortunately, he lost his battle to Lymphoma Cancer.
He was retired and a former co- owner and operator of Duncan Donuts in Scott City and Chaffee and former baker at My Daddy’s Cheesecake and Walmart. Mr. Duncan was a very humble, selfless, and caring man; an avid sports fan; St Louis Cardinals fan; coached for many years; and played fast pitch softball for many years and recognized as the 1982 Kelso Classic Most Valuable Pitcher. He previously attended the St. Lawrence Catholic Church and was a Kelly High School Graduate of 1971. He enjoyed spending time with his wife of 48 years, his four children, and especially all of his grandchildren.
On May 1, 1976 he was united in marriage to Bonnie A. Peters in New Hamburg. Mrs. Duncan resides in Gordonville.
Besides his wife, survivors include two sons, Rusty Duncan of Gordonville and Lance (Maria) Duncan of Scott City; by two daughters, Cara (Andy) Exler of Gordonville and Jamie (Travis) Green of Benton; by six grandchildren, Tyler Green, Bridget Bailey, Samuel Duncan, Mason Exler, Braden Exler, and Michaela Duncan; two brothers, Ernie (Mary) Duncan of Cape Girardeau and Jimmy (Marilyn) Duncan of New Hamburg; also, by other relatives and friends.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Diane Duncan.
Visitation will be on Monday, June 17th from 4:00 – 8:00 pm at the St. Lawrence Parish Center in New Hamburg. Funeral Mass will be conducted on Tuesday, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church at 10:00 am with Rev. Daniel Belken as celebrant. Burial will follow at the St. Lawrence Cemetery in New Hamburg.
Contributions can be made to the Lymphoma or Cancer Society in his honor.
