Rhonda Carter, daughter of the late John Carter and Mamie (Golden) Carter was born on September 6, 1957 in Marks, Mississippi. Rhonda lived a happy and joyful life until God called her home on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at The Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at the age of 66 years.

Mrs. Thornton was a former Laundry Attendant at the The Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau, Missouri and resident of Cape Girardeau.

Rhonda leaves to cherish her sweet memories,  two daughters, Srhonda Miles and Mary Smith both of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; by two brothers, John Thornton of Lambert, Mississippi and Larry Thornton of Chicago, Illinois; one brother, Charles Carter of Illinois; two sisters, Dollie McGee of Cape Girardeau and Mary Taylor of Clarksdale, Mississippi; seven grandchildren, Jamesha, Darivs, Infiniti, Joshua, Dakahi, Ty’Maya, Tarriana; four great-grandchildren; Anton, Kyler, Kingston, and Ja-Mia; also, by a host of nieces and nephews other relatives and friends.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Ruby Gardener.

Celebration of life service for Mrs. Thornton  will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2023 at Delta Burial Cooperation 491 First Street, Marks, Mississippi 38646 from 12:00 until 2:00 PM.  Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapels assisting with arrangements.
