Princess Faye Thompson

Princess Faye Thompson, 77, of Scott City, passed away at home on August 5, 2021.

Faye was born on June 6, 1944 in Oran, Missouri to Stack and Eva Rose McAlister.

Faye married Gene Thompson in 1963; they were married for 49 years before his death in 2012. Together, Faye and Gene, had two children, Brad and Sonya. Faye was a beautician and enjoyed traveling with Gene while he worked for the Railroad. She loved spending time with her friends and family and attending church events. She loved signing with her brothers and sisters. Faye enjoyed shopping, cooking holiday meals for her family, taking care of her home and making it presentable to any and all visitors, and being the first to figure out “who did it” on crime shows like Law and Order. She was known for her pristine white blouses and her easily recognizable perfume. Faye loved to care for others, and she never failed to make her love for her family and friends known. She was honest even if her opinion wasn’t the popular one. She spent her life teaching others about the love of Jesus, so that one day she could meet her Heavenly Father. She was kind, funny, sweet, caring, and brave. If you are reading this and thinking “wow, I knew her,” you can guarantee you are covered in her prayers and are being lifted up by her unwavering faith.

Faye was preceded in death by her parents, her favorite Uncle, Oscar McAlister, so known as Uncle Red, her in-laws, Rudy and Ruie Thompson, her brother-in-laws, Donald Thompson and Robert Thompson, and her loving husband, David Gene Thompson.

Survivors include her son, Brad (Lara) Thompson of Scott City; her daughter, Sonya (Tommy) Miller; her eight brothers and sisters, Gene (Julie) McAlister of Chaffee; Von (Della) McAlister of Scott City; Casey (Dwanna) McAlister of Chaffee; Wayne (Lana) McAlister of Cape Girardeau; Fines (Emma) McAlister of Chaffee; Talmas (Lena) McAlister of Scott City; Virginia Elfrank of Scott City; Wanda Wagner (Paul) Vogel of Scott City; her six grandchildren, Heidi (Jason) Strawderman of Denver, CO; Kelsey Leighton of Scott City; Danyelle (Matt) Harrell of Scott City; Madison (Sean) Carr of Beaufort, South Carolina; Ryan (Yvonne) Miller of San Antonio Texas; and Myriah Miller of Cape Girardeau, MO; and her four great-grandchildren, Luna and Sylas Leighton, Jameson Harrell, and Kinsleigh Carr; her brother-in laws, Frank (Glenda) Thompson of Seneca, IL; Tommy (Stephanie) Thompson of Naplate, IL; Richard (Diane) Thompson of Ottawa, IL; Glenn (Susie) Thompson of Ottawa, IL;  and her sister-in-laws,  Shirley Alexander of Kissimmee, FL; Beverly Thompson of Ottawa, IL;  and  Delores Henry of  Peru, IL .
