Phillip Lee Hopper was born June 20, 1948 to Donald Lee and Phyllis Ashby Hopper in Springfield IL and departed this life on July 28, 2020 at his residence in Scott City MO at the age of 72.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served from 1967-1971 onboard the USS John F Kennedy. He retired from St Francis Medical Center in 2016, as their Senior Decision Support Analyst in Performance Improvement. He was loved and respected by his department and enjoyed his job for many years. Phil was also an avid and talented song writer and guitar enthusiast all his life.
On November 18, 1983, he was united in marriage to Kristin Brandon in Cape Girardeau MO and they enjoyed a life together in the Cape Girardeau area for many years. She survives of the home in Scott City MO.
Besides his wife, Phil is survived by one daughter, Ginger Murray of Riverton IL; two brothers, Larry Hopper of St Charles MO, and David Hopper of Carlinville IL; two sisters, Beverly Hazelwood of Marion IL and Connie Eyer of Owensboro KY. Also two grandchildren, Samantha Nichols and Jordan Harrison and one great grandson, Kendall. His best friend and helper Mark Donmyer and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins He was preceded in death by his loving parents and a grandson, Zachary Nichols.
Arrangements are being handled by the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City MO. There will be no funeral services. In lieu of flowers, his widow asks that donations be made to the American Heart Association in Phil’s name or the charity of your choice. A family memorial service will be conducted at a later date.
Phil was a faithful and steadfast friend of many and loved by even more. He had a dry sense of humor and could always bring about smiles. He shared his love of music and his computer talent with all who sought him. He will be deeply missed by all.
