Peggy Ann Dakin passed away at the age of 82 on March 10, 2024. Peggy was born in War, West Virginia on July 14th, 1941. She was preceded in death by her father Remley Kyle Shamblin, her mother Clara Shamblin (Cruey), brothers Ted Shamblin, Jack Shamblin, Don Shamblin, Bill Shamblin, Sonny Shamblin, Gene Shamblin, and sister Kitty Hathcock.
She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years Jesse Dakin, her sons Jesse Dakin Jr (Jennifer), Robert Dakin (Cory), grandchildren Lindsey Fox (Nikki), Anna Quinn, Tyler Smallman, Kelsey Payne, Sarah Humphrey, Noah Estepp, Emma Estepp, Theron Dakin, Macy Dakin, Ashton Ahrens and three great grandchildren, Layla Brown, Adelaide Estepp and Lily Ahrens, in addition to many nieces and nephews.
Peggy had a big heart. She loved her family immensely and was often known as “Mom” to many of her son’s friend. As a military spouse, Peggy spent 24 years supporting her husband and family while he served our country in the United States Navy. She loved meeting new people and made many friends along the way. As a young military wife, she loved to entertain and host game nights with friends. Along the way, she learned to cook foods from other cultures, which became family favorites. One of the favorite family traditions was to gather around the table and make Lumpia and Wontons togethers. Peggy retired from Dollar General where she had work for many years. She was loved by all those who had the privilege to meet her.
A private family memorial service will be planned for a later date to celebrate her life. Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapels assisting with arrangements.
