Paul Joseph Backfisch

Paul Joseph Backfisch, son of the late Charles William Backfisch and Delphine Bertha (Glastetter) Backfisch was born on August 1, 1944 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri and departed his life on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at the Mercy Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at the age of 79 years.

He was a former employee of Kelso Milling Company and a member of the St. Augustine Catholic Church in Kelso, Missouri.

On January 8, 1966 he was united in marriage to Nancy Norene Mack.  Mrs. Backfisch survivors of the home in Scott City.

Besides his wife, survivors include one daughter, Lisa (Pete) Wasiloski of Tuscola, Illinois; four brothers, Sylvester (Lorene) Backfisch and Vernon (Linda) Backfisch all of Benton, Dennis (Janice) Backfisch of Abilene, Texas, and Carl (Rebecca) Backfisch of Tucson, Arizona; by four sisters, Norma Miller of Benton, Mary (Tom) Farris of Thebes, Illinois, Ruth Ann (Jere) Gowin of Kingsford Heights, Indiana, and Carol (Kenny) Lee of Chaffee; six grandchildren, Ashtin (Bobby) Cohn, Suzanna (Ray) Ballard, Brooke LaFentres, Shane (Sarah) Wasiloski, Alexis (Joe) Murphy, and Victoria Wasiloski; also, by nine great-grandchildren, Maddelyn, Rynn and Alexandra Cohn; Ray IV and Teagan Ballard; Leona, Hazel and Myles Paul Wasiloski; Avery Murphy.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Sue LaFentres; two brothers, Robert and James Backfisch and a sister, Joyce Austin.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 17, 2024 from 4:30 until 5:30 PM at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City.  Funeral service will then by held at 5:30 with Father Tom Wilk officiating.  Burial will be at a later date at Oakdale Cemetery in Commerce.
