Opal Charlene “Charlie” Ford

Opal Charlene "Charlie" Ford, daughter of the late William Herman Payne and Opal Helen Seals Payne was born on April 4, 1933 in Purdin, Missouri and departed this world peacefully on Monday July 11, 2022 at the Cypress Point Skilled Nursing Facility in Dexter, Missouri at the age of 89 years.

She was a proud member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Bloomfield, Missouri where she taught senior adult Sunday school for a time and also a member of the First United Methodist Church in Malden, Missouri for several years. Charlene was, at one time a member of the PTA in Mendon, MO and a Certified Nursing Assistant at the Malden Nursing Center for several years. She enjoyed sewing, gardening (vegetables and flowers) and reading her Bible at night.  Charlene was an avid singer and was also known as an outstanding cook, especially cooking large meals for her family during the holidays.

On May 20, 1951 in Mendon, Missouri, she was united in marriage to James Merrill Ford and to this union two sons and two daughters were born.  Mr. Ford preceded her in death on April 12, 2016.

Survivors include one son, Matthew Ford (Sharon) of Dexter, Missouri; two daughters, Laura (Wayne) Duello of Hamilton, Ohio and Joy Manning (David McDowell) of Clarksdale, Missouri; seven grandchildren, James Matt Ford of Floral, Arkansas, Allen Roberts of Kennett, Missouri, Aaron Roberts of O’Fallon, Illinois, Derek Ford of Bloomfield, Garrett Duello of Seven Mile, Ohio, Leah Duello of Palm Bay, Florida, and Lexi Duello of Hamilton, Ohio; eighteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth “Kenny” Allen Payne and Christopher “Derwood” Payne; one sister, Sarita Sue Payne; one son, James “Mark” Ford; and one grandson, Kyle Sanders.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 15, 2022 from 12:00 noon until 1:00 P.M. at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Bloomfield. Funeral services will then be conducted at 1:00 P.M. at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Bloomfield,Missouri.Interment will follow in the Stanfield Cemetery in Clarkton, Missouri.
