Mary Ann Halter

Mary Ann Halter, 77, of Sikeston, MO passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, Sunday, May 5, 2024 at her home. She was born January 26, 1947 to Leonard and Jackie (Alexander) Lowes in Cape Girardeau, MO.

On January 8, 1966 she married Andy Halter, Jr. at Old St Vincent Church in Cape Girardeau, MO. She was a 1965 Notre Dame graduate.

Mary Ann was a military wife and traveled the world with her family. After her husbands retirement she was the bookkeeper for Halter Transport for 20 years. She enjoyed camping, cooking and spending time with her family.

Loving survivors include her husband of 58 years, a son Kevin (Nikki Crosnoe) Halter, of Jackson, MO, a daughter Sherri (Chris) Shrum of Cape Girardeau, MO, 6 grandchildren Kristen Shrum, Matthew Halter, Isabell Halter, Natalie Shrum, Faith Halter and Emily Shrum, 4 brothers, Jim, Steve, Kenny and Greg Lowes, sister-in-law Edie Lowes and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, father and mother-in-law, Andy & Thresa Halter, 3 brothers, Richard, Timmy and David Lowes, 2 sisters Betty Jane Lowes and Sara Gramm.

A celebration of life will be May 8 at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee, MO from 5-7pm. A private burial ceremony for the family will be at Bloomfield Veterans Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Mercy Hospice for the care given to Mary Ann.
