Marion Allen Markland, son of the late James Marion and Ella Lavetta (Lane) Markland was born December 23, 1938 in Dexter, Missouri and departed his life on Sunday, January 8, 2023 at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at the age of 84 years.
Mr. Markland was a Veteran of the United States Navy. He loved spending time with his family and friends, watching the Saint Louis Cardinals, and playing golf.
On September 1, 1962 he Married Karen Clettenberg in Chicago, Illinois. She survives.
Apart from his wife, he is survived by one son: Michael Markland of Scott City, Missouri; one daughter: Denise League of Holland, Michigan; seven grandchildren: Ken (Paige) Cunningham, Shelby League, Hailey League, Tyshawn Markland, Danielle Markland, Jacob League, Kate Kerley; six great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Apart from his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters: Dorothy, Mildred, Icy, Jeanie; three brothers: Floyd, Bud, Charlie; one granddaughter: Kristen; one great grandson: Brayden
Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 from 11:00 am until 2:00pm at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City. Funeral will follow at 2:00 pm in the Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mike Shupert officiating. Burial will at the Lightner Cemetery in Scott City, Missouri with full Military Honors.
