Marilyn Brown, daughter of the late Orville “Sprad” Gearing and Irene Mary “Wright” Gearing was born on November 23, 1938, in Illmo, Missouri and departed her life on Friday, December 20, 2024, at The Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at the age of 86.

She was a former employee at various retailors including Famous Barr and was the owner and operator of Marilyn Grocery Store in Scott City.  Ms. Brown was a member of the First Baptist Church in Scott City and a lifelong resident of Scott City/Illmo. She loved dancing, fishing, music, and playing the organ.  Her favorite charities were the Veterans, Boys Town, and St. Jude’s.

Survivors include two sons, Mark Stady of Dalhart, Texas and Gregg Brown of Blue Springs, Missouri; four granddaughters, Shannon Crabtree of Holt, Missouri, Kristen McGuire of Corinth, Texas, Shelby Bogart of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Madison Stady of Dalhart, Texas; five great-grandchildren, one sister, JoAnn Rogers of Scott City, also, by other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Monday, December 23, 2024, from 9:30 until 11:00 AM at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City.  Funeral services will then be conducted at 11:00 AM in the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City.  Interment will follow in the Lightner Cemetery.
