Lois Corbitt, 89, passed from death to life on March 27, 2021, in her daughter’s home in Montgomery, TX. Born Lois Anita Reed, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Edward Reed and Blanche Smithson Reed, in Commerce, MO.
She is survived by a brother, Gene W. Reed, of Highland, CA, two daughters, Sandi Roper, of Festus, MO, Kirsten Ober (Pat), of Montgomery, TX, and a son, Eric Corbitt (Jeanice), of Eudora, KS. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren: Daniel Lamson (Julia), Juliana (Jeff), Andilynn Burgess (Megan), Jennifer Corbitt(Lu), Kelsey Corbitt, Kurt and Luke Ober, and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, John G. Corbitt, a son, John Corbitt, three brothers and a sister. Several cousins, nieces and nephews were close and will also miss her.
Her life was marked most of all by her abiding faith in God. She served as a pastor’s wife for many years and threw herself into the work of many charitable causes.
One could sum up her life’s story by the verses in Proverbs 31, describing an excellent wife and mother. “Her husband and her children shall rise up and call her blessed.”
Family service will be held at graveside, Oakdale Cemetery, Commerce, MO on April 2, 2021.
Celebration of Life to be held at Skyline Church, O’Fallon, Illinois, on Saturday April 3, 2021 at 11:00 AM.
