Lindon Winford Duncan, 82, of Sikeston passed away Thursday, Dec. 6, 2018 at the family home.
He was born on Oct. 23, 1936 in Matthews, MO to the late Orril William and Lema Mae Holland Duncan. On Aug. 19, 2003, he married Jackie Sue Wagoner, who survives of the home.
Lindon was a retired troubleshooter/lineman for Ameren UE. He was a member of Sikeston Masonic Lodge #310 and a member of St. Louis Scottish Rite -Valley St. Louis Orient of Missouri. He also was a member of the Shriners International Club in Springfield, MO – Adou Ben Adhem Shrine.
Lindon grew up in Sikeston where he excelled in sports at Sikeston High School. He signed with the St. Louis Cardinals organization and played for several years during the 1950s. He later lived in Chaffee, MO and was a long-time fast-pitch softball player in Southeast Missouri. He was a proud member of the 1967 Missouri State Championship Team sponsored by Schindler’s in New Hamburg. He is a member of the Southeast Missouri Amateur Baseball Hall of Fame. He was active as a youth league coach in Chaffee in the 1960s and 1970s. He also enjoyed spending his winters with Jackie at his home in Homosassa Springs, FL.
He is survived by his loving wife Jackie Duncan of Sikeston. He is also survived by a son, Lindy (Sharyn) Duncan of Jackson; three daughters, Cindy (Ron) Mix of Lathrop, CA; Amanda (John) Waugaman of Huntington, WV; Angela (Jim) Tinnin of Festus; along with their mother Sue (Watkins) Sherry; and a step-son, Jeff (Jana) Limbaugh of Sikeston; and a step-daughter, Toni Curtis of Morley.
In addition, he is survived by ten grandchildren: Morgan (Mix) Seborowski of Winnetka, IL, Ashleigh (Mix) Fox of Columbia, MO, Candice (Duncan) O’Hare of Jackson, Carmen (Duncan) Diebold of Gordonville, Josh Duncan of Jackson, Allyson (Duncan) Schnurbusch of Cape Girardeau, Duncan Waugaman of Cape Girardeau, Abby Tinnin of Cape Girardeau, Hunter Waugaman of Huntington, WV, and Alex Tinnin of Festus; and five step-grandchildren: Blake Bruenderman of Morley, Austin Edwards of Morley, Holly (Limbaugh) Seyer of Gordonville, Jake Van Pool of Sikeston and Ryan Van Pool of Sikeston; nine great-grandchildren; and a step-great-grandchild.
Visitation will begin at 10:30 am until 12:00 noon on Friday, Dec. 14, at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran. The Funeral Service will begin at 12:00 noon following the visitation at the Chapel, with the Rev. Chad Bles officiating. Burial will be at the Garden of Memories cemetery in Sikeston.
