Lewis Hamilton

Lewis Wayne Hamilton, son of the late Herschel and Alfreda Dickerson Hamilton was born on March 23, 1941 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri and departed his life on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at his home in Chaffee, Missouri, surrounded by his family and friends at the age of 80.

After high school he served in the US Navy on board the USS Turner until his honorable discharge.  He had a love for being on the river, fishing, hunting, and camping.  He loved his dog Missy; she was always by his side.  He was loved by his family and many friends, and he will be missed dearly.

He is survived by two daughters; Angela (Shane) O’Connor and Lisa (Dexter) Carr, four sons; Herschel (fiancé Rachel) Hamilton, Lloyd (Bernadette) Cross, Jeff (Carol) Rodgers, Jeff (Candy) Hamilton, and 23 grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Linda Lands and 2 brothers Larry Hamilton and Kenneth Hamilton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Doris Yahn, a brother, Carl Hamilton, and a daughter, Shari Hamilton.

A private ceremony will be held at a later date.
