Levanda “Kay” Menz, daughter of the late Cletus James and Effie Mae (Long) James was born on October 18, 1947 in Bell City, Missouri and departed her life surrounded by loved ones on Saturday morning September 14, 2024 at her residence in Perkins, Missouri at the age of 76.
On April 23, 1971 she was united in marriage to Paul Allen Menz in Randles, Missouri. Mr. Menz preceded her in death on August 7, 1994.
She was a child of God and a member of the Perkins Baptist Church. She served her family as a homemaker from which she was known to always have a fresh pot of coffee, sweet tea and iced oatmeal cookies. Her house filled up any time she made her famous ham and beans, fried potatoes and cornbread.
Survivors include one son, David Allen James of Aquilla, Missouri; five daughters, Paula Kay (Felipe) Reyna and Ladonna Mae Menz both of Perkins, Janie Ellen Hinkle of Rockview, Missouri, Sherry Lynn Shipley of Delta, Missouri, and Tyressa Ann Menz of Anna, Illinois; thirteen grandchildren, Steven Menz, Andrea Reyna, Clayton (Christina) Johnson, Marcus Bowers, Felipe Reyna Jr., Laura Sadler, Kayli (Cody) Naramore, Devin (T’Keyah) Menz, Valerie Hinkle, Zachary James, Doug Hinkle Jr., Chelsea James, and Thomas Menz, and twenty-four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Delbert Lee James of Sikeston and Joe Marvin James of Chaffee; also, by other relatives and friends.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Gary, Jessie, and Larry James; by four grandchildren, Brandon Menz, Dewayne Sadler, Ashley Sadler, and D’Erick Menz: and four great-grandchildren Brandon Frazier Jr., Haley June Marcille, Elmer Hinkle and D’Shawn Thomas Menz.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 from 11:00 until 12:30 at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Home in Chaffee. Graveside service will be conducted on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at 1:00 P.M. at the Williams Cemetery in Perkins, Missouri with Rev. Phil Thompson officiating.
