Lawrence Edward Pugh, 88 of Scott City died Monday, Nov. 11, 2019, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. He was born Dec. 7, 1930, in Cement, Oklahoma, to Henry and Ethel Barnett Pugh. He married Karla Moss on Aug. 29, 1959.

Lawrence was a member of First Baptist Church in Scott City. He was a U.S. retired military and served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War as a rifleman. He participated at Pusan Perimeter, Inchon Landing, Seoul and Chosin Reservoir. He also served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam as an infantry Platoon Sergeant. In his later years he was a graphic arts teacher.

He is survived by his wife, Karla; and a son, Henry Pugh of Waveland, Mississippi.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister.

Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the Amick-Burnett Chapel in Scott City.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Friday at the chapel with the Rev. Jeremy Sells officiating.

Burial will be in Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield with full military honors.
