June Peetz, daughter of the late Arlie William Smith Sr. and Viola Mowery Smith was born on August 16, 1943 in Fornfelt, Missouri and departed her life on Friday, September 30, 2022 at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at the age of 79 years.

She was a proud homemaker and a dedicated and loving mother.  Mrs. Peetz was a high school graduate from Illmo-Scott City and went on to Metro Business College in Cape Girardeau. June was a former employee at H&R Block, Younghouse Party Center and was highly sought after for many smaller part time jobs over the years.  She was a lifetime member of the Broadway Methodist Church, FCE of Oak Ridge Homemakers, (DAR) Daughters of American Revolution (John Guild Chapter), Society of Mayflower Descendants in Missouri, active in a bowling league for 21 years, and a Girl Scout leader for 21 years.   Mrs. Peetz never met a stranger and will be remembered by many for her warmth and friendliness.

On November 7, 1964 she was united in marriage to Elmer Dean Peetz in Scott City, Missouri.  Mr. Peetz preceded her in death on July 21, 2021.

Survivors include one daughter, Dana (Tim) Cook of Jackson, Missouri; two sons, Dustin (Haley) Peetz of St. Louis, Missouri and Dylan Peetz of Jackson; one granddaughter, Mallory Cook, “Mammaw’s little princess”; one brother and two sisters.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, two brothers, and one sister.

Visitation will be held on Monday, October 3, 2022 from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City.  Funeral services will then be conducted at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Michael Woods officiating.  Interment will follow in the Lightner Cemetery in Scott City.
