John Roland O’Neal, son of the late Walter Monroe and Dulcie (Pierce) O’Neal was born on June 14, 1928 in Burdette, Arkansas and departed his life on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at the Prairie View Skilled Nursing Center in Bloomfield, Missouri at the age of 96 years. He served 24 years in the United States Marine Corp obtaining the rank of Master Gunnery Sergeant, the highest enlisted rank in the Marine Corp. He served in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign War in Advance, Missouri and American Legion in Sikeston, Missouri. He is a former resident of Morley. Survivors include one son, Michael O’Neal of New Orleans, Louisiana; two, daughters Kimberly Barnett of Bertrand, Missouri and Terry (Vernon) Brunzel of Essex, Missouri; two brothers, Jim O’Neal and Abraham O’Neal both of Morley; four sisters, Monnie Emerson of Advance, Sarah Milam of Morley, Peggy Vanover and Barbara Brock both of St. Charles, Missouri; twenty grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Elizabeth Labrano; two brothers, Leon and David O’Neal. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Home in Oran, Missouri. Funeral services will then be conducted at 11:00 AM in the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran. Interment will be held at 1:00 PM at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri with full military honors.
