John Howard Counts, 83 of Scott City, Missouri died Wednesday February 26, 2020 at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau. He was born December 22, 1936 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri to John Wesley and Anna Sue Hendrix Counts. He married Bonnie Lou Roberts on June 17, 1972.
He was an engineer for the Cotton Belt Railroad. He enjoyed the lives of his kids and grandchildren. He loved baseball, especially the St. Louis Cardinals.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie; a son, John H. Counts, Jr of Marine, Illinois; three daughters, Crissy (William) Keesee of Scott City, Darla (Nathan) Hart of Vancouver, Canada and Donna Stacey of Medford, Oregon; three brothers, Jerry Counts, James ( Darlene) Counts and Dale Counts all of Collinsville, Illinois; a sister, Nina Mae Hill of Collinsville; nine grandchildren, Rory, Brittany, Austin, Abbey, Eli, Sawyer, Kristen, William and Hannah and two great granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Visitation will be from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm on Sunday at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City.
Funeral service will be at 2:00 pm at the chapel with Rev. Randy Morse officiating.
Burial will be in Lightner Cemetery in Scott City with full military honors.
