John Merit Allen

John Merit Allen, son of the late Jack Allen and Margaret (Asbell) Allen was born on February 24, 1941, in Fulton, Kentucky and departed his life on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at the age of 84 years.

He was a former Math Teacher at New Madrid County R-1 School District and after retirement he was a Substitute Teacher at Scott City Schools. John was a member of the LaCroix United Methodist Church in Benton and a resident of Benton.

On August 8, 1965 he was united in marriage to Billie Kay Beardslee in Commerce, Missouri. Mrs. Allen survivors of the home in Benton.

Along with his wife, survivors include two sons, Jeff (Megan) Allen of Bowling Green, Kentucky and John Darren Allen of Benton; four grandchildren, Nolan, Kelsey, Zane, and Meredith; one brother, Thomas Allen of Clarksville, Tennessee; also, by other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be from 12:30 pm until the time of service on Monday, April 14, 2025, at the LaCroix Methodist Church in Benton.

Memorial service will be at 1:00 pm on Monday at the church with Rev. Daniel Seabaugh officiating.
