Joseph William Holt

Joe Holt, son of Laura Jean Holt of Sikeston, Missouri and the late Joseph Benjamin Holt was born on June 17, 1951 in Kennett, Missouri and departed this life on Sunday, February, 25, 2024 at his residence in Benton, Missouri at the age of 72.

He was the owner/operator of Holt Farms in Scott County where he was a lifelong resident, farming with his son and grandsons.  Joe was a member of the New Savannah Baptist Church in Blodgett and Elks Club in Sikeston, Missouri.  He was an avid team roper where he made many lasting friendships.  In recent years, he developed a love for Current River and spent most of his time there enjoying boat rides, trail riding, and spending time with family and friends.

He was united in marriage to Lonnie Holt and to this union two children were born.  One son, Kevin (Terra) Holt of Sikeston; one daughter, Jeanie (Mike) Summers of Barnhart, Missouri; four grandchildren, Tyler (Madalyn) Holt, Trey (Kyanna, fiancé) Holt, Nick Summers, and Cora Summers.

In 2010, Joe was united in marriage to Pam Johnson in Jamaica.  Mrs. Holt survives of the home in Benton.  He received two step sons from this union, Phillip Cissell of Murray, Kentucky; Kyle (Martha) Cissell of Benton; two stepdaughters Kayla (Ben, fiancé) Cissell of Ashland, Oregon, and Jessie (Johnathon) Compas of Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Four step-grandchildren, Aubrey, Henry, Kyle, and Noah.

He is also survived by three sisters, Laura (Charlie) Harrison, Dona Rider, and Tammy (Paul) Morrow.

He was preceded in death by his father, J.B. Holt.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 29, 2024 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at the Unity Baptist Church in Benton.  Funeral service will then be conducted at 1:00 pm at Unity Baptist Church with Rev. Dennis Lowe officiating.  Interment will follow at the Unity Baptist Cemetery
