Joann Schmitt

JoAnn Schmitt, 70, of Cape Girardeau, formally of Chaffee passed away on Monday, June 3, 2019 at Ratliff Care Center in Cape Girardeau surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on July 14, 1948 in Jackson, Missouri to the late Woodrow and Lois Whitledge Clifton. She married Louis L. Schmitt Jr., on April 1, 1967 and he preceded her in death on Sept. 15, 1999.

JoAnn was a retired assembly line worker for Thorngate Ltd. in Cape Girardeau. She was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in New Hamburg, Missouri.

She is survived by two sons, Jeff Schmitt of Jackson and Tim Schmitt of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Joyce Griffin of St. Charles, Missouri and Judy Lane of Jackson; five grandchildren, Joshua and Eleanor Schmitt, Kamden Brockmire, Caleb and Addison Schmitt.

Friends may call after 5:00 pm on Thursday at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee.

Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am on Friday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in New Hamburg with Rev. Bala Govindu as celebrant. Burial will be at St. Lawrence Catholic Cemetery in New Hamburg.
