Jerry Carlton May, 86, passed away in peace at his home on Thursday, March 3rd surrounded by his children. He was very proud to have lived his entire life in Morley. Jerry was born in “God’s Country” (as he always referred to Morley) in 1935 to Clara Ella Carlton May and Jasper Creal May. The May family was a large and close family. He is survived by one brother, Don May, of Dexter. He was proceeded in death by his parents, his brothers , Charles F. May, George May, Tom May, and by his sisters Molly May and Ellen Demko. In 1956, while serving in the Air Force, he eloped and married Glenda LaFern McDonald in Mississippi. Together, they raised four children in Morley. Later in life, he married Jill Dean Davis, and then Glenna Dean Hudson. All three proceeded him in death. Jerry was a loving and devoted father to Keith (Tammy) May, Vera (Rick ) Pobst, Jerra (Chris) Hutson, and Jay (Lisa) May. He was a proud PawPaw to Jarrod Pobst, Ashton (Corey) Duncan, Alec Hutson, Ryan May, Tatum May, Katelyn May, and Ethan Hutson. He taught them many life skills. These included fishing, ( and how to Kiss a fish), Deer hunting, how to properly eat a watermelon, (just the heart) the importance of knowing how to ride a horse, and the adventure of hunting arrowheads. Jerry was an avid hunter, fisherman, gardener, pecan sheller and professional fudge and crispy dog maker. After his retirement from automobile sales he became a golf enthusiast and installed a private driving range at his home. He was a friend to many and loved unconditionally. His smile, witty sense of humor, compassion for others , love of his community, and positive influence will live on in those he loved. A Celebration of his life and visitation will be held on Friday, March 18th at the Morley First Baptist Church at 9:30 with a service at 11:00. Internment will take place at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Citizens of Morley for a better community at P.O.
