Jerry Benfield

Jerry Don Benfield, age 73 of Scott City, Missouri died Saturday, February 22, 2020, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau, MO. He was born April 18, 1946 in Advance, Missouri, to Early Gilbert and Esther Mae Beshears Benfield. He had seven sisters and four brothers, all deceased.

He had been a construction worker, a security guard, a Deputy Sherriff for Bollinger County and a pipefitter. He was honored for his 50 years of service in October from the Pipefitter's Union Local 63/353 of Peoria, Illinois. He enjoyed fishing and sitting outside in the summer.

He is survived by a son, Shannon Benfield and a daughter Sarah Capps of Illinois and a special friend, Valerie Burrows of Peoria, Illinois. He also is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Jerry donated his body to the St. Louis University School of Medicine, there were no services per his request.
