James Dolan was born July 17, 1950 in St. Louis, Missouri to Thomas and Ruth Dolan. Jim was the third child of the family, which became a total of 13 children. Eventually he had eight brothers and three sisters! There was Tom, Mike, Frank, Bill, Barb, John, Paul, Gerry, Marianne, Martha, and Bob. His father and three of his brothers (Tom, John and Paul) have preceded Jim in death.
Jim attended elementary school at Immaculate Conception in Arnold, Missouri and went to high school at St. Pius X in Festus.
Jim got out of college during the middle of the Vietnam war and served in the military from 1972-1975. Jim volunteered for the Army Corps of Engineers, to be stationed in Germany where he was a car pool mechanic. He was also clerk but more than a simple clerk. He managed to receive awards for his proficiency.
Jim loved to draw. After the service in the Corps, Jim found a job working at the Defense Mapping Agency, DEMAP, on Arsenal St., in St. Louis. From drawing maps by hand, Jim went to drawing maps on the computers.
Jim received an award for a design of a model car when he was about 12. He also designed an addition to his house in St. Louis that fit the original architecture well.
Jim liked to look at the world and figure out how to make in better. Though he did not see eye-to-eye with his dad they were a lot alike in this perspective.
Jim was strong, stubborn, in his opinions and giving like his father.
Jim is survived by his mother, nine brothers and sisters, three sons: Jim, Kevin and Tony and Grandchildren Justin, TJ, Evelynn, and Axel and his fiancée Sherri Meredith.
Jim was baptized and confirmed at Immaculate Conception, Arnold, MO in 1950.
