Jackie Ray Hamm, 80 of Scott City, Missouri died Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at Mercy Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. He was born February 16, 1944 in Commerce, Missouri to William Avery and Dorothy Elizabeth Walter Hamm. He married Margaret Ann Sebright on January 15, 1966 and she preceded him in death on April 19, 2010.
He was an engineer for Cotton Belt and Union Pacific Railroad for thirty-six years and six months, retiring in 2004. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Scott City, Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and former local Chairman for B.L.E. Division 442. He served n the Missouri National Guard from 1964 to 1970.
He is survived by two sons, Jackie (Karen) Hamm, Jr and Michael (Misty) Hamm of Scott City; a daughter Jill (Barry) Spooler of Millersville, Missouri; two brothers, Glen (Nancy) Hamm and Mark (Brenda) Hamm of Scott City; two sisters-in-law, Martha Hamm and Mary Ann Hamm; seven grandchildren, Andrea (Austin) Craft, Ray Hamm, Travis (Brooke) Hamm, David Hamm, Megan (Blake) Oldson, Devan Spooler and Ethan Spooler and three great grandchildren, Audrey, Gwen and Nora.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Doug, Roger and Bruce and a sister-in-law Shelby Hamm.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm on Thursday at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City.
Funeral service will be at 10:00 am on Friday at the chapel with Rev. Jeremy Sells officiating.
Burial will be in Lightner Cemetery in Scott City.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to First Baptist Church Benevolence Fund.
