Jackie Franklin Coomer, Sfc Retired

Jackie Coomer, the son of Albert "Pooch" Coomer and Laura Coomer (née Williams), was born in Oran, Missouri, on July 11, 1944. Sadly, he passed away on September 16, 2023, at the age of 79, doing what he loved to do (coon hunting). Jackie was a proud member of the Baptist faith and a retired United States Army Vietnam Veteran. He served his country with pride and was stationed in Germany for three tours, where he worked as a cook and received numerous awards for his culinary skills. Jackie was always ready to cook for any occasion, and his food was highly regarded. In addition to his military service, Jackie was also a renowned coon hunter, actively participating in several hunting clubs. He resided in Whitewater, Missouri, and had a strong passion for the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team. He eagerly followed their games, especially when they were winning. Jackie married Anita Raye Daust on August 17, 1967. Sadly, she passed away on August 21, 2018. Jackie is survived by his four sons: Chuck (Pam) Coomer of Doniphan, Missouri; Jeff Coomer of Dallas, Texas; Jack D. (Penny) Coomer of Delta, Missouri; and David (Tanya) Coomer of Whitewater, Missouri. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Brian Coomer, Jaclyn Childers, Amanda O'Neill, Grant Coomer, Brooke Coomer, and Ciara Coomer, four great-grandchildren and one on the way. (Emma) In addition to his wife, Jackie was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Laura Coomer, as well as three brothers (Bill, Bob, and Joe Coomer) and three sisters (Margie Strange, Ada Croy, and Edna Holt). He was also mourned by the loss of one great-granddaughter, Charli Childers. Visitation will be held at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Funeral services will take place at 10:00 am on Thursday, September 21, 2023, at the same chapel, officiated by Reverend Hugo Walka. Following the service, Jackie will be laid to rest at 12:00 noon at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri. The burial will include full military honors, paying tribute to his dedicated service.
