Gregory Scott Gross, 54 of Scott City passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at Southeast Hospital surrounded by his family.  Greg was born March 6, 1966 in Cape Girardeau to Donald Eugene and Peggy Darlene Walker Gross an only child.  On November 21, 1984 he married the love of his life Kimberly Wickham.

Greg was employed by City of Cape.  He was the owner/operator of his own garage Greg’s Auto Repair in Scott City where he helped and met a lot of people.  Greg also drove a semi truck for Hull Trucking.

Hobbies included dirt track racing where he also met and helped a lot of people.  He also enjoyed camping and fishing.

Greg is survived by his wife, Kim of 36 years; his mother, Peggy Gross Skelton; two sons, Michael William (Kandi) Gross and Gregory Keith (Courtney Holder) Gross; two grandsons he loved more than life, Kamerin Scott “Kam man” Gross and Kole Michael “Kole man” Gross; granddogs, Sophie , Zeus and Izzy; Gregs’ furbabies, Buddy, Pugsley and Bobo; two aunts, Dorothy (Cletus) Raines of Tuscon, AZ and Sharon (David)Hohler of Cape Girardeau; cousins, Kim (Nick) Greer of Tuscon, AZ and Jeff (Linda) Raines of Coon Rapids, MN; Nieces Lindsey “Susie” (Brandon) Matty of Cape, Ashley (Dirk) Dirnberger of New Hamburg and Jennifer Aubuchon of Cape; Nephew, Brent (Kourtney) Aubuchon of Springfield, MO; great nieces, Cambrie and Kylie Stull, Aliyah and Alana Aubuchon and Kynlee Dirnberger; great nephews, Laken, Hunter and Fisher Matty; sisters-in-law, Rachel (Joe) Frey of Kelso and Pam Allen of  Scott City; aunts, Mary Puckett of Oran and her family Alisha, Leslie and Josh and Brenda Campbell of Scott City; Uncle Ray (Donna) Campbell and his family Morgan and Jake; plus his work family he loved just as much.

He was preceded in death by his father, Don Gross; stepfather, Bill Skelton “Daddy Bill”; his grandparents; father-in-law, Bill Wickham and uncle Gary Puckett.

He always loved working on cars, motors and carbs. To many guys he was known as the carb man.  He will be deeply missed and loved by all the many people’s lives he touched.

Visitation will be from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm on Saturday at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 pm on Saturday with Rev. Dennis Lowe officiating.

Burial will be at Lightner Cemetery in Scott City.
