Gloria Lee Miller, 93 of Scott City, Missouri died Friday, June 14, 2019 at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. She was born February 14, 1926 in Chaffee, Missouri she was the only child of Charles I. and Grace F. Lee Sauer. She attended the First Christin Church at Chaffee, Missouri and was a bookkeeper for Bunny Bread Co. in Cape Girardeau.
She was married to William R. Miller who preceded her in death.
Survivors include her son, Charles J. (Eileen) Hicks of Jefferson City, Missouri; a stepson, William T. (Jeannine) Miller; a half-sister, Peggy West; four grandchildren; eight great grandchildren, also an extended family of beloved friends, Robert and Betty McFall, which Mrs. Miller considered her children.
She was a member of St. Marks #167, O.E.S., Cape Girardeau. She was active in the Eastern Star in her earlier years and served as worthy matron, later she was honored by being chosen at the District Deputy Grand Matron of the 50th District, Grand Chapter of the state of Missouri. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary post 6407 in Scott City. She worked with the Cub Scouts and was a Den Mother for three years. She was a past Noble Grand of the Rebakah Lodge which was located in Scott City at the time. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society.
During World War II she served as a Red Cross Nurse Aide.
She loved the Lord and enjoyed the word of God. She wrote poems about Jesus and her favorite Bible verse was Psalms 9:1, ( I will praise you , O Lord, with all my heart, I will tell of all your wonders, I will be glad and rejoice in you, I will sing praise to your name, O most high).
Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 pm on Monday at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday at the chapel with Rev. Steve Shepherd officiating.
Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens near Morley, Missouri. She will be laid to rest beside her husband, William Miller.
