Geralyn Sue Rhymer
Geralyn Sue Rhymer, 65, gained her angel wings on Friday, December 17, 2021 at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri surrounded by her loving family. She was the daughter of the late Leslie “Doc” Smith and Rosemary Schabbing Smith born on November 10, 1956 in Cape Girardeau.
“Sue” or “Geri” as family and friends knew her, was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and so much more. She will be sorely missed by everyone who had the pleasure of meeting her.
Geralyn and her surviving husband Rodney were married January 13, 1990. They made Scott City their home where they were surrounded by friends and family.
She was employed at Community Counseling Center in Cape Girardeau and was affiliated with Cape LaCroix Church.
Her daughters and grandsons were the light of her life and she cherished every moment spent with them. There is nothing she enjoyed more than sitting by the fire pit in the backyard, camping at Sam A. Baker and Christmas season. She adored her early morning walks with her fur baby and tailgating in the rain with her husband. She always looked forward to Saturday mornings at her parents house and relaxing with her family every Saturday night. She will be remembered as a beautiful person that was selfless, thoughtful, kind-hearted and always full of love and spunk.
Survivors include her husband of 31 years, Rodney Rhymer of Scott City; two daughters, Brooke (Alex) Simmons of Jackson, Katie (Trey) Wallace of Advance; two brothers, Steve (Debbie) Smith of Sedgewickville and Mike (Susie) Smith of Jackson; two sisters, Patty (Dennis) Schuette of Friedheim and Sheila (Randy) Rhymer of Jackson; by three grandchildren; Beckett & Elliot Simmons, Layn Wallace and baby Wallace arriving in July.
