George Douglas

Toby Douglas, son of the late Amos Douglas and Marie Hedges Douglas was born on June 17, 1935 in Anniston, Missouri and departed his life on Sunday, November 27, 2022 in the Southeast Health Care Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at the age of 87 years.

He was the owner and operator of Douglas Dry Cleaners in Advance, Missouri from 1964-2002 and a member of the Unity Baptist Church in Benton, Missouri.  Toby enjoyed fishing, working, and spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

On October 30, 1952 he was united in marriage to Barbara Ann Gray in Charleston, Missouri.  Mrs. Douglas survives of the home in Benton.

Besides his wife, survivors include one son, Jeffrey (Charla) Douglas of Bloomfield, Missouri; by two daughters, Dianne (Robert) Schiwitz of Benton, Missouri and Shani (Todd) Ladd of Jackson, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Travis (Heidi) Schiwitz, Jason (Taylor) Schiwitz, Brannon (Meagan) Douglas, Tori (Al) Whitfield, Drake Douglas, Lenzy (Grady) Leimbach, and Emily Ladd; by eight, great-grandchildren, Logan Schiwitz, Ashtyn Schiwitz, Shaylen Schiwitz, Brynn Schiwitz, Millie Schiwitz, Kolby Criddle, Jaylyn Whitfield, and Kennedi Leimbach; also by two brothers, Howard Douglas of Scott City and Richard Douglas of South Roxana, Illinois.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill and James Jefferson Douglas; by two sisters, Margie Mayabb and Margarete Stone.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at the Unity Baptist Church in Benton.  Visitation will resume on Thursday, December 1, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. until funeral ceremonies at 1:00 P.M. officiated by Rev. Dennis Lowe and Rev. Fred Ritter.  Interment will follow in the Unity Baptist Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial can be made to the Unity Baptist Church in Benton, Missouri or to your favorite charity of choice.
