Geneva Hindman Proffer

Geneva Hindman Proffer, daughter of the late John Eldridge and Ethel Carnell Eldridge was born on June 9, 1922 in Chaffee, Missouri and departed this life on Wednesday, September 9, 2020 in the Fountainbleau Lodge in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at the age of 98 years.

On May 6, 1939 she was united in marriage to Eugene Hindman. To this union in marriage four sons where born. In 1968 they moved to Dexter, Missouri to be closer to his work as a carpenter with Brown Construction and after the death of Mr. Hindman on April 13, 1978 she moved back to Chaffee, Missouri. She was then united in marriage to Clayton Proffer on December 20, 1982. Mr. Proffer preceded her in death on September 25, 2010.

Mrs. Proffer spent her life devoted to her family, friends and as a charter member of the Church of God in Chaffee. She loved to fish, camping, and in her later years getting all the families and grandchildren together for a big meal and socializing.

Survivors include four sons, Eugen (Donna) Hindman of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Frank Hindman (late wife Beverly) of Springfield, Missouri, Glen (Judi) Hindman of Dexter, Bruce (Sue) Hindman of Wappapello, Missouri; by two step-daughters, Kaye Proffer and Joyce Proffer both of Chaffee; one brother, Russell (Terri) Eldridge of Cape Girardeau; and by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Besides her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, John Eldridge, Glen Eldridge, and Arthur Eldridge.

Visitation will be held from 10:30 until 12:00 Noon at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee on Friday, September 11, 2020. Graveside services will be conducted on Friday at 12:00 Noon at Union Park Cemetery in Chaffee with Rodney Eldridge officiating. Interment will follow. Active pall-bears will be Eugene Hindman, Frank Hindman, Bruce Hindman, Tracey Hindman, Scott Hindman, and Greg Hindman with one Honorary pall-bear Glen Hindman.
