Ernest Glastetter

Ernest Glastetter, son of the late Frank and Clara Amhrein Glastetter was born on January 30, 1933 in Oran, Missouri and departed this life on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at The Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at the age of 86.

Mr. Glastetter worked at Sport Specialist Shoe Company in Chaffee, Missouri for 13 ½ years and then went to work for Atlas Plastic a.k.a. Spartec in Cape Girardeau, where he worked for 25 years until retirement. He was an avid reader and enjoyed reading non-fiction books, working in his garden, fishing, hunting, and especially squirrel hunting.

On August 24, 1957 he was united in marriage to Elizabeth (Betty) Seyer in Chaffee, Missouri. Mrs. Glastetter survives of the home in Oran.

Besides his wife of 62 years, survivors include three sons, Fred Glastetter (Mary Beth) and Gary Glastetter (Nena) all of Oran, Dennis Glastetter (Nancy) of Chaffee; by one daughter, Carol Bierschwal (Danny) of Cape Girardeau; seven grandchildren, Dustin Glastetter of Kansas City, Megan Eftink of Nashville, Tennessee, Bethany Beggs of Cape Girardeau, Nathan and Jordan Glastetter of Chaffee, Tiffany Schaefer (Jeff) and Natalee Cook (Codey) all of Oran; five great-grandchildren, Regan Glastetter of St. Peters, Missouri, Bristol and Leelyn Schaefer of Oran, Lawson and Aubrey Cook of Oran; by three sisters, Evelyn Hooker (John) of O’Fallon, Missouri, Virginia Uptain (Walter) of Weatherford, Texas and Maxine Whalen (Ed) of Hazelwood, Missouri.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson Jacob Glastetter, three sisters and five brothers.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 22, 2019 from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. with a Rosery service at 4:00 P.M. at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran. Funeral mass will be conducted on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. at the Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Oran with Father Randy Tochtrop officiating. Interment will follow Guardian Angel Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials can be made to Guardian Angel Catholic School or to the St. Jude’s Children’s children hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
