Donald Earl Watkins Sr.

Don Watkins Sr., son of the late William Oscar Watkins and Lillie Irene Bowers was born on March 15, 1949 in Burdette, Arkansas and departed his life on Monday, April 1, 2024 at his residence in Oran, Missouri at the age of 75 years.

He was a man that wore many designated hats in his lifetime serving on the Oran Volunteer Fire Department, Oran Police Department, and former E.P. Coleman (Cowboy) for several years. Don previously was employed at Superior Electric, President of IBEW Union, Magna-Tel, and Concord Publishing. Mr. Watkins was the owner/operator of Mimosa Acres and a self-employed owner of a Dump Truck for many years. He worked at the Guardian Angel Catholic Parish where he was also a member of the #1430 Knights of Columbus.

On October 8, 1966 he was united in marriage to Linda L. Buell in Benton, Missouri. Linda survives the home in Oran.

Besides his wife, survivors include three sons, Don Watkins Jr., Darin (Kim) Watkins, and J.R. (Leslie) Watkins; two daughters, Diane (late Chris) Metcalf and Crystal (Jeff) Parks; one sister, Pam Wefenstette; thirteen grandchildren, Josh Stanley, Jim Eftink, Brandi Daughterty, Christopher Metcalf, Dustin Parks, Shannon Metcalf, Desiree Mansker, Lindsey Seyer, Kelsey Aldridge, Logan Watkins, Zack Watkins, Landon Watkins, and Lilly Watkins; also survived by eighteen great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Johnny Watkins, Larry Watkins, Junior Watkins, and James Jackson Watkins.; by two sisters, Linda Mitchem and Jean Mitchem and one great granddaughter Ameila Metcalf.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2024 from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, April 5, 2024 at 10:00 A.M. in the Guardian Angel Catholic Church with father Joseph Kelly officiating. Interment will follow in the Guardian Angel Cemetery in Oran.

Memorial can be made to the Guardian Angel Parish in memory of Don Watkins.
