Deloris Rodgers-Newman, daughter of the late Alcey Duke and Addie Biggs Duke was born on August 9, 1935 in St. Louis, Missouri and departed this life on Monday, March 1, 2021 at the Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at the age of 85 years.
Mrs. Deloris was a homemaker, wonderful mother, and grandmother. She was a member of the First Pentecostal Church in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, a very godly lady, and a resident of Chaffee, Missouri.
She was first united in marriage to Charles L. Rodgers in 1952. Mr. Rodgers preceded her in death 1980. She was then united in marriage to Silas Newman in 1986. Mr. Newman preceded her in death in 1995.
Survivors include two daughters, Deloris Lynette Rodger-Fehr of Chaffee and Denice (Glenn) Rodgers-Christy of San Antonio, Texas; by four grandchildren, Michelle Pierce, Annette Winick, Garrett Christy, and Danielle Christy; also, by nine great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Besides her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death one daughter, Charlette Rodgers, one brother, Elco Duke; three sisters, Dorothy Heady, Helen Stovall, and Doris Luecke.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 5, 2021 from 10:00 until 12:00 noon at the First Pentecostal Church in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Funeral services will then be conducted on Friday, March 5, 2021 at 12:00 noon in the First Pentecostal Church, 3054 Lexington Ave., Cape Girardeau, Missouri 63701 with Rev. Darrell Faire officiating. Interment will follow at the Evergreen Funeral Home in New Madrid, Missouri.
