Danny Cope, Jr.

Daniel Cope Jr., son of the late Daniel Jesse and Helen Louise Thurmond Cope, Sr. was born on July 17, 1939 in Blytheville, Arkansas and departed his life on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at his residence in Scott City at the age of 84 years.

He was of the Church of Christ faith and owner of Cope Trucking for several years.

On July 25, 1957 he was united in marriage to Margaret Francis Stoffregen in Cape Girardeau and to this union one son, Danny Ray Cope was born. Mrs. Cope preceded him in death on March 4, 2002. On December 24, 2008 he was united in marriage to Bonnie Rose Link-Johnston. She preceded him in death on November 18, 2014.

Survivors include two sisters, Doris D. Moss of Jackson, Missouri and Betty Jo Roth of Manchester, Missouri; daughter-in-law Patty Cope of Kelso; one granddaughter, Danielle (Devin) Tucker of Kelso and one great-granddaughter, Hayden Tucker; loving Partner for several years, Mary Hickman of Scott City and her son, Dr. Daniel Autrey of Fayetteville, North Carolina; also, by other relatives and friends.

Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Danny Ray Cope and by one brother, Thurman G. Cope.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 21, 2024 from 11:00 until 1:00 at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City.  Funeral services will then be conducted at 1:00 PM in the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel.  Interment will follow in the Lightner Cemetery.
